FDA endorses call for Civil Service Act - 27 January 2005

Today the FDA welcomed the recommendations of the Committee on Standards in Public Life (CSPL) regarding inquiries into allegations against Ministers. Responding to the Committee's statement published today, FDA general secretary Jonathan Baume said:

"We agree with the CSPL recommendation to establish a clear framework within which complaints against ministers can be considered objectively and without compromising civil servants. We also endorse the Committee's emphasis on the need for the Government to move swiftly to introduce a Civil Service Act that will put the governance of the civil service on a statutory footing subject to Parliamentary scrutiny."
