Procurator Fiscals reject pay offer - 10 November 2003

FDA members in the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service have voted overwhelmingly to reject the pay offer put to them for 2003-5.

The offer was rejected 92% to 8% with nearly 80% of members taking part in the ballot.

Dave Penman, head of operations at the FDA said: "This result shows the strength of feeling amongst our members and should send the clearest possible signal to the Crown Office that they have failed to address, in their pay offer, the issues which are important to their legal and senior management grades.

"Crown Office senior management have now agreed to meet with us urgently to discuss the rejection. I hope that they see sense and take this opportunity to avoid conflict with their staff over this pay offer. We want to see these issues settled quickly and amicably but the size of the rejection should indicate that there is some considerable work to be done to resolve this."
