The FDA, together with Prospect, will be holding an open meeting in the London area for members to discuss the Civil Service Compensation Scheme proposals and give your feedback.
The meeting will be held on Thursday 17 September 2009 at 12.30pm in Westminster Central Hall, Storey's Gate, London SW1H 9NH.
FDA General Secretary Jonathan Baume and Prospect Deputy General Secretary Dai Hudd will be addressing the meeting, but the main focus is to take questions and views from members on the issue.
If members outside London would like a meeting, please make contact with your branch convenor and we will endeavour to provide a speaker where there is a demand.
Consultation exercise
The formal consultation process being held by the Cabinet Office is well under way and ends on 5 October 2009. The FDA will be responding formally, but we are encouraging all members to participate in this exercise and copy us in to any submission or comments you make. Please send any comments to cscsfeedback@fda.org.uk.
If this consultation exercise is to be meaningful, the Cabinet Office will need to explain how it has taken account of your views. It is vital, therefore, that as many members as possible respond.
Meeting with the Minister for the Cabinet Office
The FDA, together with the other civil service unions, will be meeting with the Minister for the Cabinet Office, Tessa Jowell, at the end of September to raise our concerns over the proposals.
We will be impressing on the Minister the level of concern among members that, at a time of uncertainty and further departmental cutbacks, the Government is proposing to impose on the civil service the worst redundancy arrangements in the public sector.
We will update you on further developments as they occur.
