Education permanent secretary to speak at June conference

Department for Education permanent secretary, David Bell, has agreed to give the keynote speech at the Unlocking the SCS conference to be held in central London on 30 June.

The conference - the latest in the 'Unlocking' series - will explore the benefits and challenges of joining the Senior Civil Service, and will answer those questions commonly asked by aspiring candidates.

Neil Rider, manager of the FDA's skills project, said: "We may be in difficult times, but our members are not ignoring their career progression.

"The number of delegates at the most recent Unlocking the SCS event in December was very encouraging. We are delighted that David Bell has agreed to speak at the June event in London and see this as a strong indication of how the Unlocking events are regarded."
