The FDA Black and Minority Ethnic Network hosted an event on Thursday 22 October to mark Black History Month. The theme was 'Spreading the equalities word across Government'. Several speakers attended and assisted the new network reps, Beverley Martin and Maureen Martin, in working with BME members on developing and invigorating the Network.

Black History Month is celebrated every October in Britain and has stated aims to:

  • Promote knowledge of Black History, Culture and Heritage
  • Disseminate information on positive Black contributions to British Society
  • Heighten the confidence and awareness of Black people to their cultural heritage.
