FDA at the Diversity and Equality in Government conference

On 10 December 2009 the FDA attended the Diversity and Equality in Government conference, which was organised by the Equality and Diversity Forum and took place in central London. The FDA had a stand where FDA BME Network member Beverley Martin and FDA equalities champion Sara Guerra spoke to delegates.

The event gave delegates the opportunity to attend workshop sessions and listen to speakers including Alan Milburn MP, chair of The Panel on Fair Access to the Professions. He said: "It isn't ability that is unevenly distributed in our society; it's opportunity."

Guerra said: "[Despite there being] little in the way of specifics from high-profile speakers as to how diversity and equality won't lose priority in the current cash-strapped climate, the workshops focusing on public sector achievements in progressing [these] issues were really interesting and inspiring."
