FDA members urged to vote Yes in Civil Service Compensation Scheme ballot

The FDA Executive Committee, together with Prospect, GMB and Unite, have agreed to recommend to members that they vote yes to agree the terms on offer for changes to the Civil Service Compensation Scheme.

FDA General Secretary Jonathan Baume said: "The FDA Executive Committee believes that the offer represents the best that can be achieved by negotiations, and that the alternatives to a negotiated settlement were industrial action, lengthy and uncertain legal action, or to accept the capped terms in the Superannuation Bill 2010."

A number of members' meetings are being arranged to explore the issues in greater depth. Branches will notify members where they will be taking place locally. Details of meetings will also be posted on the Civil Service Compensation Scheme area of the FDA website.

The FDA has created a booklet, which explains the background to these negotiations, the issues the Executive Committee considered in reaching its decision and further information about the changes to the scheme.
