FDA national equality officer elected to Discrimination Law Association Executive Committee

FDA national officer with responsibility for equalities and diversity, Ro Marsh, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Discrimination Law Association (DLA). The DLA is a non-profit charity and network that brings together discrimination law practitioners, policy experts, academics and concerned individuals and organisations committed to strengthening anti-discrimination law, practice, advice and education in the UK. Marsh - the only non-lawyer on the Executive Committee - was elected at the DLA's Annual General Meeting in mid-February and is now a 'Director/Trustee'.

Marsh said: "The DLA is an important and influential organisation, which campaigns and educates around equality legislation around employment in this country. I decided to stand for election to the Executive Committee because I feel that the DLA will benefit from widening out its membership and encouraging more trade unionists to join, particularly at this time of Government attacks on employment rights. It is important that the DLA looks at ways of defending existing legislative rights around discrimination, as well as continuing to push for the development of new rights."
