FDA general secretary Jonathan Baume has, in a letter published today in The Times, responded to Friday's leader, 'Why the Strike is Wrong'.
In setting out the facts that have led to the union's members taking strike action on Wednesday, Baume says: "Most unions want to agree long-term pension arrangements that are both fair to public servants and sustainable for the tax payer. But the Government bears significant responsibility for the failure to date to reach a settlement."
