FDA workshop on 11 January 2012 - the Legal Framework of Government

The FDA is running a workshop on Wednesday 11 January 2012 from 9.30am-4.30pm, which will give an understanding of the basic legal framework of government in the UK. It will be held at a central London venue.

Through a mix of presentations, case studies and discussions, barrister Helen Bennett - an experienced former senior government lawyer - will cover topics such as:

  • the constitutional structure of the UK;
  • the relationships between parliament, the judges and the government;
  • your role as a civil servant;
  • European and international law;
  • how devolution works;
  • legislation - Acts and regulations;
  • the court and tribunal system;
  • legal risk in action - key legal cases; and
  • where to go for more information.


The cost of the event is £49.99 for members and £99.99 for non-members, and includes lunch.
