Following a recent competition, FDA general secretary Jonathan Baume has been appointed to the ACAS (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) Council for a three-year term.
The Council is responsible for determining the strategic direction, policies and priorities of ACAS, and for ensuring that its statutory duties are carried out effectively. It also acts as the management board for ACAS as an employing body.
There are 12 members of the Council - four representing 'employees' (following this competition, three union general secretaries and a senior TUC official), four representing 'employers' (CBI, companies etc) and three independents (academics, employment lawyers etc), together with the chair, Ed Sweeney.
