The FDA - together with Managers in Partnership (MiP) - is running a half-day workshop on Tuesday 13 September looking at the issues to consider when thinking about self-employment.
The workshop - to be held at the FDA's head office in central London - will be in two parts: 'finding your idea' and 'considering self-employment', which will include a look at available help and next steps.
Judith Taylor, who was a training manager for PRIME (The Prince's Initiative for Mature Enterprise) and has hands-on experience of setting up two businesses, is the speaker.
Neil Rider, FDA Learn project manager, said: "In the fast-changing environment we currently face, public servants - and those from other sectors - have to be prepared to look beyond traditional forms of employment. This workshop will provide a useful starting point for those considering self-employment."
Lunch will be provided from 12pm, with the seminar starting at 12.30pm and finishing at 3.00pm.
This event is open to both FDA and MiP members and non-members. For more information or to book a place, please contact Sean Ruddy at sean@fda.org.uk.
A separate, full-day event being held on 15 September in central London - Getting Out to Get On - will look at career opportunities outside the civil service. For more information or to register to attend this conference please go to www.gotgo.co.uk or contact Alex Bond on 020 7593 5502.
