The third Managers in Partnership (MiP) national conference took place on Tuesday 23 November 2009 at the Congress Centre in central London. With the theme of 'Quality Through Partnership', the day included speeches from Department of Health (DH) minister of state for health services Mike O'Brien and DH Director of Public and Patient Experience Paul Streets. There was also a question and answer session with health spokespeople from each of the major political parties as well as networking opportunities for delegates.

In his speech to conference, MiP chief executive Jon Restell responded to the slash and burn debate about NHS cuts. Restell said: "These are not faceless bureaucrats we are talking about. They are real people with real families and real bills, doing real jobs with real skills. So if people have to go - then treat them with dignity and respect for the work they have done for the NHS... There must be no slash and burn. Cuts to training budgets, blanket recruitment freezes [and] abandoning sensible plans are never more than short-term fixes. We mustn't revisit the solutions to the 2006 financial crisis."

More information on the conference can be found on the Managers in Partnership website.
