Pan-public sector mentoring scheme moves to next stage

The FDA's new mentoring scheme moved to the next stage of development yesterday with a lunchtime meeting of around 20 fast streamers at the union's head office in central London.

The scheme, which is being delivered in partnership with the Cabinet Office and Middlesex University Business School, will involve fast streamers - and other recent public sector graduate entrants - mentoring students at the university. In addition to the mentoring programme, the project will develop a mock public sector-style assessment centre to give students full experience of this type of application process.

Neil Rider, FDA Learn project manager, said: "The public sector mentoring scheme goes from strength to strength. We now have 65 fast streamers expressing an interest and 20 have signed up to help deliver the programme.

"This is a cross-cutting initiative that will encompass health and local government as well as the civil service."

If you would like to know more about becoming a mentor or helping to deliver this exciting initiative, please contact Sacha Dutta at sacha@fda.org.uk.
