Around 150 delegates attended the FDA-sponsored Unlocking the SCS event on 7 December, aimed at providing career development advice to staff below the SCS. The conference took place at The Hatton in Hatton Garden, central London, and was organised by Westminster Explained.
Manager of the FDA Professional Skills for Government project Neil Rider chaired the event, which included speeches by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) permanent secretary for tax, Dave Hartnett; Lord Bichard, senior fellow at the Institute for Government and FDA general secretary Jonathan Baume. There were also talks by training consultants and other leading figures in HMRC, the Department for International Development and the Department for Energy and Climate Change.
Rider said: "The success of these events can be shown in today's speakers. Two of them previously attended Unlocking the SCS events as delegates and those same people are now speaking about their successes and sharing their experiences with today's attendees."
