The FDA's skills project - FDA Learn - has signed memoranda of understanding with Middlesex University, outplacement provider Fairplace, and public sector conference and information provider Gov Today.
Neil Rider, FDA Learn project manager, said: "We are discussing a possible programme for Middlesex students to be mentored by fast streamers, and the provision of higher and further education courses for particular groups of FDA members - together with course 'tasters'."
The union's work with Fairplace, which is part of the Savile Group, is in delivering the Making Informed Career Choices in Public Sector Delivery brand, which includes a Manchester event on 2 December (John Redwood is keynote speaker). There is also a major central London event on 11 January on the theme of 'getting out to get on'.
The union is also working with conference provider Gov Today, which will provide places on a no-cost basis for FDA members at Efficiency and Procurement 2011 - Promoting Fairness and Growth Conference on 24 March in London; and at Sustainable Transport 2011 - Greening the Transport Sector conference on 16 February.
Rider said: "In these times of fundamental change, building and maintaining these relationships is more important than ever. Members who wish to find out more about the offers arising from these partnerships should contact me at neil@fda.org.uk."
