The FDA is a professional association and trade union for senior managers and professionals in public service across the UK. We represent more than 18,000 civil service administrators, policy advisers, tax professionals, lawyers, diplomats, economists, statisticians, graduates on the Fast Stream programme and more.
We are a strong and pragmatic union that recognise public services will continue to change. We work in partnership with employers and members to help them implement that change, and to help improve workplaces and working lives.
We believe in engaging with employers - not working against them - and helping to identify and address concerns before they become real problems. We think solutions are best reached through dialogue and clear consideration of the issues. We will challenge employers where necessary but also reach agreements when it’s in our members interest.
Through our FDA Learn and Keyskills professional development programmes , we also aim to equip members with the skills they need to succeed in their jobs. Our partnerships with employers help us to design and run FDA Learn courses which are tailored to the needs of today’s public services.
