Clare Moriarty: Looking back to look ahead

Stefano Cagnoni

We’re pleased to announce that Clare Moriarty, former Permanent Secretary at the Department for Exiting the European Union, will be joining to FDA members for a special interactive webinar:

Looking back to look ahead

Wednesday 22 July

12.15pm to 13.30pm

FDA members will have received an email invitation but please contact info@fda.org.uk if you would like more information.

Clare is a long-time FDA member and regular speaker at our Women into Leadership conference series. She will be reflecting on themes from her time in the civil service – in particular her recent years in leadership roles – and suggesting how they might apply in a post-COVID-19 world.

With a career in the civil service spanning from the Fast Stream right up to Permanent Secretary, Clare has held a number of high profile roles including Permanent Secretary at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Director General at the Rail Executive in the Department for Transport and Principal Private Secretary to the Health Secretary – as well as being the first civil service Faith and Belief Champion.

She has a self-confessed “divergent view” of what a leader in government should look like, placing an emphasis on creating an inclusive work environment, nurturing the “tempered radicals” and encouraging colleagues to keep wearing their red shoelaces.

This webinar will also give you the opportunity to put your questions to Clare. A live chat function will be running throughout and members can submit questions ahead of time by tweeting @FDA_union using #FDAClareMoriarty.
