Personal injury

If another person's negligence has caused you personal injury, the FDA is here to ensure you are properly compensated.

If you are an FDA member who has suffered a personal injury due to a third party's negligence, we are here to help. Whether this has occurred inside or outside the workplace, we can offer you legal support.
We can take your compensation claim to court for free, as long as you were a member of the FDA at the time of the accident or injury, and still remain a member throughout your claim.
The union has partnered with Slater and Gordon Lawyers to provide the FDA Personal Injury Compensation Scheme, which provides cover to members and their immediate family*.
The FDA provides support for work-related personal injury compensation claims against employers or other third parties.

For all other types of claim, or where a work-related claim requires escalation, we can introduce members to the professional, impartial and independent legal advisers at Slater and Gordon, where you are guaranteed all of the damages awarded without any deductions if your claim is successful.
For more information, contact your workplace rep or National Officer.

*Immediate family for these purposes means the member’s spouse, civil partner, and any parents, children or siblings who permanently resides with the member (including any child who is a student at university or other further education establishment, who reside with the member outside of term time). Only claims for non-work-related accidents and injury to your immediate family are covered under the FDA Personal Injury Scheme.
