The FDA supports members throughout their careers in public service, from professional grades all the way through to Senior Civil Servant grades.
In addition to offering our members high-quality advice and representation, plus negotiating pay and pensions on their behalf, the FDA has a comprehensive offer of professional training and career development events to help them make the most of their careers.
FDA Learn has been providing high-quality learning and development to civil servants since 2008. Engaging with civil service employers, it has developed into a programme bespoke to civil servants’ needs across the whole of the UK, supporting on average 8,000-plus learners each year.

Career development taster sessions
Moral courage

If we are looking to build inclusive cultures in our organisations, then the role of moral courage needs to be understood, nurtured, and harnessed. This session explores a framework for how we can do this in our organisations and how this can lead to true inclusion.
Leading in uncertainty

This presentation focuses on the perceived challenges, giving practical techniques and real world examples of how to navigate through a new organisation, its culture, building new relationships, learning new processes and the whole logistical challenges the change can bring.

Neurodiversity, stress, burn out and recovery

This course enables participants to understand why individuals with neurodiversity are more prone to stress and burnout. It gives practical strategies to support wellbeing while navigating challenging times. Participants will learn brain-based tools to manage stress, build resilience, and sustain their energy and performance through periods of change.
Preparing for Interview and assessment

In this event participants will consider different elements that they may encounter in an interview and presentations in the civil service under Success Profiles. The session will aim to give participants an insight into what to expect and how they can prepare themselves in order to build confidence prior to assessment.
