Last year the FDA helped nearly 8,000 civil servants develop their careers through providing high quality leadership and management training.

Our extensive learning offer is free to all members

We run online courses and webinars each working weekday throughout the year. Our programme is designed to be flexible in order to fit into our members’ busy schedules. Our providers specialise in civil service learning and development and many are ex-SCS. Topics include leadership and management skills, knowledge building and upskilling, wellbeing and equality and diversity.

We also offer a range of courses for workplace reps to support them in their roles.

On average, those who attend our FDA Learn sessions are three times more likely to be successful when applying for new roles within the civil service.

Meet the FDA Learn providers

FDA Learn offers webinars from a range of talented providers. Find out more about some of our regulars:

Sue Carter is a new FDA Learn provider, focusing on managing change and introducing new technologies. Her sessions include ‘Managing new tech’ and ‘Digital leading through digital change’.

She has run her own digital and communications consultancy for five years. Previous clients include BBC, Yahoo! Australia, Loteri Cymru, Gwent Police, Arts Council of Wales and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Gareth Petty has recently joined the FDA’s team of providers, covering sessions on managing difficult conversations, unacceptable behaviours at work, and reasonable adjustments and hidden disabilities, amongst other webinars.

Gareth has a background in conciliation and was Director for Acas Wales from 2006 to 2023.

Success Profiles courses

FDA Learn can support you to develop your career. We regularly run a variety of events that will help you better understand Civil Service Success Profiles. We can also provide you with more interactive sessions on specific elements of the process.

All of our online offer is free for FDA members. If you register to attend the webinar and find you cannot attend at the time, you can often view the webinar after the event. All registered delegates are sent a link to view the slides and video after each webinar.
