You’re now well on your way to becoming part of your union
What happens next?
We usually process these applications within two working days. Once your submission has been accepted, you will receive an email informing you that have become an official member. You will then be able to access the member’s area of the FDA website.
Setting up your direct debit
You have provided us with your account details, which we will use to set up a direct debit, you have the right to cancel your Direct Debit at any time. Payments are taken on the 1st of the month. However, please note the FDA collect subscriptions one month in arrears.
Once we have reviewed your application we will send out a letter confirming your direct debit details and confirming the amount we will be taking.

We charge monthly subscriptions on a sliding scale, based on your salary and your grade. View our subscriptions page.
We collect subscriptions monthly, one month in arrears.
FDA membership is available to staff in all government departments, agencies and arms-length bodies, from grades HEO to SCS. The FDA is only recognised union for those on the Civil Service Fast Stream scheme, or equivalent training schemes. We represent those working for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) at any grade. View our eligibility page.
